21st SIRHA LYON, THE TRADE FAIR FOR THE FOOD-SERVICES SECTOR


Sirha Lyon, the leading international trade fair for the hotel and food services sector, took place from 19 to 23 January at Eurexpo Lyon. This five-day event brought together trade professionals to develop new business opportunities, and to discuss and share ideas about the latest developments and trends in the sector.

AN EVENT THAT ILLUSTRATES THE COMPLEMENTARY NATURE GL EVENTS' BUSINESS DIVISIONS


Sirha Lyon perfectly highlights the Group's complementary areas of expertise. All three of the Group's divisions were involved in this trade fair, which was organised entirely by GL events. Sirha Lyon is part of the Sirha Food event portfolio,  and one of the many trade fairs owned by th e Exhibitions division. The event was held in the halls of Eurexpo Lyon, a venue owned by GL events Venues. Eurexpo Lyon provides some 120,000m² of exhibition area. Finally, GL events Live  provided the event overlays, fittings and operational services, including 11,000m² of signage, more than 200 fully-equipped stands, a total of 5070m² of wooden and modular partitions, as well as 230 hospitality stewards and hostesses.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS

Three major international competitions took place during the trade fair, as well as several national competitions. Every food-service craft was represented: baking, cheese-making, fishmongering, etc. This year, the World Pastry Cup was won by Japan, with France and Italy taking second and third place respectively. Denmark won the Bocuse d'Or and the United States took first prize in the International Catering Cup.
