ART EXPLORA AND GL EVENTS: CULTURE REACHES OUT TO NEW AUDIENCES AT PARC CHANOT

On 25 and 26 July, Parc Chanot in Marseille will welcome the MuMo Centre Pompidou as part of its tour of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. This stop builds on the relationship established between GL events and the Art Explora Foundation around a shared ambition: to make culture more accessible by reaching out to audiences, particularly those who are furthest removed from it.

The MuMo Centre Pompidou is a travelling museum dedicated to the collections of the Musée national d’art moderne – Centre Pompidou. Supported by the Art Explora Foundation, it travels across different regions to offer direct access to modern and contemporary art outside traditional cultural venues.

In Marseille, the MuMo Centre Pompidou will be hosted with the support of the Parc Chanot teams, part of the GL events Venues network.

This collaboration illustrates GL events’ approach to cultural engagement: supporting cultural organisations, making its venues and expertise available to projects, and helping to broaden access to culture across local communities.

Why is the MuMo Centre Pompidou stopping at Parc Chanot in Marseille

The MuMo Centre Pompidou’s visit to Parc Chanot is part of a regional tour of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. On 25 and 26 July, Marseille will be one of the stops on this journey, designed to bring works of modern and contemporary art closer to new audiences.

The MuMo Centre Pompidou will host the Pompidou Circus exhibition, created by the Centre Pompidou from around twenty works from its collection. The circus theme echoes the museum’s travelling nature, live performance, encounters with audiences and the collective imagination. Visitors will discover works exploring the figures of the clown, travelling performer, acrobat and magician, as well as the world of fairs and carnivals.

By hosting this stop, Parc Chanot is providing its spaces and visitor-hosting expertise. The venue will serve as a local base for a mobile cultural project designed to create an initial encounter with contemporary art in a setting that is more accessible, direct and closer to local audiences.

A cultural relationship operating on several level

The Art Explora Foundation develops innovative cultural projects to make art accessible to as many people as possible. Its approach is based in particular on mobility, cultural mediation and the ability to reach out to audiences, especially young people and those who have limited access to cultural institutions.

GL events already supports Art Explora through its museum boat, an international travelling project. Hosting the MuMo Centre Pompidou at Parc Chanot opens up another form of collaboration: one that is more local, led by Marseille Events and directly connected to the venue’s regional roots.

This combination adds depth to the relationship between the two organisations. It demonstrates how a cultural partnership can operate at different levels: at Group level, through major travelling projects, and at local level, through community-based initiatives capable of reaching new audiences.

What is GL events’ policy on cultural partnerships?

GL events supports culture in all its forms, including concerts, festivals, exhibitions, contemporary art, immersive projects, live performances, cultural events and public cultural venues. The Group works alongside institutions, artists, producers, local authorities and foundations, providing access to its infrastructure, event expertise and integrated resources.

This policy is based on one conviction: the events industry can contribute to cultural influence and the vitality of local communities. The venues operated by GL events are more than spaces for hosting events. They can also become platforms for encounters, cultural mediation and engagement with new audiences.

Partnerships with Art Explora and Artissima reflect this ambition. They enable the Group to support cultural projects that differ in format, audience and location, while pursuing the same objective: facilitating access to culture, increasing the visibility of artistic initiatives and supporting cultural organisations in delivering their projects.

With the integration of the s.pass network, GL events is also continuing its development in the cultural sector and strengthening its presence alongside cultural venues and events in France. This momentum confirms the growing importance of culture within the Group’s activities, at the intersection of venue management, visitor experience, event production and local development.

How can event venues help improve access to culture

Hosting the MuMo Centre Pompidou at Parc Chanot provides a concrete example of the role event venues can play in promoting culture. Thanks to their accessibility, hosting capacity, local roots and experience of managing audiences, these venues can act as platforms for artistic and cultural projects.

In the case of the MuMo, the objective is clear: to reach people who do not always visit museums. The mobile museum makes it possible to organise visits, workshops, cultural mediation sessions and discussions around the artworks in a more open environment than that offered by traditional cultural institutions.

For Parc Chanot, this initiative forms part of its approach as a vibrant venue that is connected to its local community and capable of accommodating a wide range of activities. It demonstrates that an event venue can host trade fairs, conferences, business or sporting events, while also contributing to cultural projects with a social impact.

Why are cultural partnerships strategic for GL events

Cultural partnerships enable GL events to support projects that build connections, encourage engagement with audiences and contribute to the profile and vitality of local communities.

In the cultural sector, the Group’s expertise can take several forms: providing spaces, welcoming audiences, offering logistical support, delivering temporary installations and hospitality services, operating venues or supporting the circulation of projects.

The aim is not to create artistic content in place of cultural organisations, but to give them the resources they need to reach their audiences. This is precisely what hosting the MuMo Centre Pompidou at Parc Chanot makes possible: supporting the mobility of culture, improving its accessibility and embedding an artistic project within a specific local community.
