THE DESIGN TOUR STOPS BY LYON

La Sucrière is hosting the exhibitions of the first urban design tour in France.

The Design Tour introduces you to designers and places that count. Four French cities will be welcoming the tour: Marseille, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Lyon. In each city, between 20 and 35 venues and locations will present exhibitions, installations, decor settings or operations based on the idea of "Dare!" (Osez!), in order to open up the world of design to a broad audience. Two itinerant exhibitions ("Génération Design" and "In the mood for Ikea") will also be on show. In Lyon, La Sucrière will be hosting these exhibitions from 14 to 17 November. Built in the 30s in the dock area of Lyon Lyon-Confluence, this former warehouse is now one of the leading cultural venues in Lyon. It is also the ideal venue for such a project where imagination is king and a tailor-made stage setting has been designed to host the event.

The "Génération Design" exhibition (organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Elle Décoration), presents creations from up-and-coming designers discovered by the magazine around the world, in association with VIA (the Centre for the Promotion of Innovation in Furnishing). Some of the themes addressed by the thirty items of furniture and designer objects are adaptability, accessibility, functionality and practicality. "In the mood for Ikea" presents the work of 10 French designers inspired by Ikea's textile section: offices, bags, carpets, chairs, etc. are redesigned in originals ways. The designers gave free range to their imagination, playing with shapes, colours and materials...true to the motto of the first Design Tour: DARE!
