At this year's Sirha, the international fair dedicated to the Restaurant and Hotel industries which was held from 22 to 26 January 2011 at Eurexpo Lyon, the Bocuse d’Or 2011 was won by the Danish chef Rasmus KOFOED.
The 15th Sirha, the international fair dedicated to the Restaurant and Hotel industries which was held from 22 to 26 January 2011 at Eurexpo Lyon, ended on an excellent note, having attracted 162.615 visitors, more 15% than in 2009.
In the kitchens installed in front of the public (2,400 places) in the centre of the new Paul Bocuse Hall, 24 chefs from around the world rose to the challenge of preparing two perfect dishes using the official products for the Bocuse d'Or 2011 during a magnificent show lasting 5 hours and 35 minutes.
To assess the 24 candidates, the jury was made up of 24 influential and emblematic chefs from each of the participating countries, supervised by 3 exceptional presidents: Paul Bocuse, the Founding president, Yannick Alleno, the Honorary President (3* Chef of the Meurice, Bocuse d’Argent 1999) and Geir Skeie, the President of the International Jury (Bocuse d’Or 2009).
This new Bocuse d’Or challenge was won by the Danish chef Rasmus KOFOED.
He had already won the Bocuse de bronze in 2005 and the Bocuse d’argent in 2007. This was the first time that Denmark had won the highest prize.
The inauguration of the new Hall at Eurexpo on Wednesday 26 January was also a moment to remember. Paul Bocuse and 90 chefs with stars laid their hand-prints on the cement squares that will form the entrance wall of the new Hall, baptised the Paul Bocuse Hall.
With 2,000 exhibitors, 13 international pavilions, over 10,000 chefs from 136 countries, and 1,200 demonstrations a day, this latest edition of the Sirha once again enabled visitors to discover all the latest world trends in the restaurant, hotel and food sectors.
