From 1 May to 31 October 2010, the Shanghai World Expo will be the largest ever organised. As an official partner of the Rhône-Alpes pavilion, GL events has created a packaged offer for the operational management of pavilions and will manage a total of six national and regional pavilions.
With nearly 200 exhibitors - countries, regions, international organisations and commercial companies - the Shanghai World Expo will be the largest ever organised.
The event will play a significant role in the urban development of Shanghai and the outreach of China.
From 1 May to 31 October 2010, the Chinese organizers expect more than 70 million visitors to the event, which covers over 5 km2 in the heart of Shanghai, located on both banks of the river Huangpu, between the Lupu and Nanpu bridges.
The Universal Expo, whose theme is "Better city, better life", will be made up of five zones:
- three geographic zones housing the national pavilions
- a zone for company pavilions
- a zone dedicated to "urban best practices"
One of the major novelties for the Expo 2010 is the UBPA zone (Urban Best Practices Area), which will provide cities from around the world with a "world stage" from which to present their responses to urban issues based on their own experiences and histories. The cities can put forward their proposals thanks to presentations that will showcase their unique initiatives concerning various issues linked to the urban environment, such as quality of life, sustainable development, protection of heritage and technological innovation in cities.

Security, cleaning, hostesses, maintenance, catering, shop, temporary exhibition outfitting, and management of the delegations are some of the components of these packages that can be adapted to the needs of each pavilion.
At the Universal Expo, the Rhône-Alpes pavilion will present four projects in particular:
1 | The eco-built pavilion
2 | A school restaurant
3 | The rose garden
4 | The city lights project
It will be a world showcase for the know-how and innovation of the region's companies in terms of eco-construction and city lighting, at the service of Chinese and international prime-contractors.
