SAUT HERMES AT THE GRAND PALAIS

An eagerly awaited first late-evening opening.

From 17 to 19 March, the Grand Palais (Paris, France) will be hosting the 8th Saut Hermès. This year, for the very first time, the event will be organising a late-evening programme. On Saturday 18 March, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy a brand new show-jumping class and an original equestrian performing-arts show, bearing witness to the event’s growing success.

Baptised the “Le Prix du 24 Faubourg” - an allusion to the famous address of the “Maison Hermès” - this CSI 5* class will run against the clock (without jump-off) with progressive difficulty and a very tricky final obstacle. After the competition, the public will be treated to an original equestrian show entitled “Le songe de Don Quichotte” (Don Quichotte’s dream), created by the playwright Florient Azoulay in collaboration with the equestrian performing-arts rider Mario Luraschi. The evening show promises to be a truly unforgettable experience under the majestic glass nave of the Grand Palais.

The top fifty show-jumpers in the world will be taking part in the event for the 8th year in a row. They will be competing in the 10 classes of this international show-jumping competition, which includes seven 5-star (CSI 5*) classes.

In addition, 20 up-and-comping international riders (under 25 years old) will be sponsored by riders on the CSI 5* circuit. These young riders will take part in 3 original classes as part of the Talents Hermès. This series of classes was created in 2011, reflecting one of Hermès core values, namely the tradition of handing down expertise.

To produce the event, Hermès is continuing its partnership with GL events, which has once again demonstrated its excellence in organising major international equestrian events.
The French rider Michel Robert - the sports advisor for the Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais - and Frank Rothenberger - the renowned German course designer - will be looking after the technical aspects of the classes once again this year.

Drawing on its experience in the equestrian sector dating back to 1837, the 8th Saut Hermès at the Grand Palais re-asserts Hermès objective of re-establishing top-level show-jumping in the centre of Paris.
