MMArena stadium: an inauguration that will go down in history.
On Saturday, 29 January, the Le Mans football club took centre stage. That was the day the club inaugurated its new stadium, named the “MMArena” from the name of the insurance firm, MMA. In doing so, it became the first to give a French company’s name to a sports ground. It had taken ten years for these “Naming Rights”, which now involve around a hundred stadia throughout Europe, to reach France.
GL events, via Market Place, was entrusted with the delicate task of marking the minds of the public in the long term with the identity of the name by designing and organising the inauguration of this stadium for a crowd of 25,000 spectators, 600 VIP, 120 journalists and the French Prime Minister, François Fillon.
The inauguration show, with 400 volunteers from the Sarthe department, involved a range of themes and symbols reflecting the values of the MMArena: the centre for sporting excellence, the stadium’s multi-functional use, football and the “stadium naming”!
