LYON LIGHTS UP

GL events, official partner of the Fête des Lumières.

From 7 to 10 December, the City of Lyon will come alive at night thanks to the amazing illuminations of this year’s Fête des Lumières (Light Festival), which always attracts thousands of visitors to the city.

For the occasion, GL events Audiovisual will be providing its expertise and skills for several artistic projects in different venues around the city.

Below is a brief review of the services provided for this colourful light festival.

- GL events Audiovisual will be setting up an incredible light show at the Tony Bertrand swimming centre as part of the “Météore” project. The swimming pool will be filled with eerie lighting phenomena producing hypnotic effects that float in the sky. Luminous waves and objects will dance between the four masts of the swimming pool producing reflections off the water.

- The unveiling of the façade of the new Hotel-Dieu will also take place during the Lyon Light Festival. The façade will be highlighted by the artists Laurent Langlois and Daniel Knipper as part of their “Rayonnement” (Radiating) project, which will retrace the history of the building.

- The “Montée de la Grande Côte” (hillside street in one of the old districts of Lyon) will plunge spectators into the world of cinema with the “Genius scala” light show. Legendary scenes from films will decorate the steps and gardens of the hill.

- The Odeon of the ancient Roman theatre of Fourvière will host the "Lumignons du Coeur", an installation organised to support the Laurette Fugain Association (an association which funds research into leukaemia). The teams are in charge of installing the lights, including all the lanterns on the steps of the ancient theatre.

- GL events Audiovisual will be in charge of all the lighting for the traditional Gala Evening in the lounges of the Town Hall, which will take place on 7 December.

- Trade professionals and stage-lighting enthusiasts will be able to get together at the Village Lumière at the Chamber of Commerce during the 4 days of the festival.
