GL events, the integrated full-service event industry group, was selected by the city of Nice within the framework of a competitive bid to manage the Exhibition and Convention Centre. This 18th site represents a strategic addition to GL events' network of venues.
GL EVENTS ADDS A NEW VENUE IN NICE WITH A 10 YEAR CONCESSION
GL events will manage the Nice Exhibition and Convention Centre under a 10-year concession (délégation de service public) effective 1 January 2007. This agreement will represent approximately €150 million over the 10-year period. GL events undertakes to invest €7 million for the modernization of the infrastructures. This will be accompanied by investments of €19 million by the city of Nice over this same period.
With exhibition space of 30,000 m² and 4 auditoriums, the site is highly modular and capable of hosting all types of events (congresses, conventions, shows, sports events, trade fairs and exhibitions).
In 2006, a broad range of events were hosted by the Nice Exhibition and Convention Centre including the Salon de la Gastronomie, the Home Furniture and Interior Design Trade Fair, Super-Cross Indoor as well as a significant number of shareholders meetings and meetings of different political parties. The Nice International Trade Fair, the Bâtir Exhibition and the General Meeting of the AFER (Association Française d'Epargne et de Retraite) are among the many events scheduled for 2007.
COMMERCIAL SYNERGIES FOR ALL GROUP VENUES
Following the recent developments in Lyon, the addition of this latest venue reinforces GL events' ability to promote major French cities, and notably the Lyon-Nice corridor, as premium destinations for international events. Now covering Barcelona, Lyon, Nice, Padua and Budapest, GL events has in this way also strengthened its competitive offering in Southern Europe. The Group is thus pursuing its strategy of expansion based on significantly increasing the commercial potential of its entire portfolio of venues.
