Matmut Stadium Inauguration

GL events provides the installations for COP22 in Marrakech from 7 to 18 November 2016

THE LARGEST TEMPORARY INSTALLATION EVER PRODUCED.

A global provider of solutions and services for events, partner of major world sports and political events, GL events Group was awarded a contract to provide temporary structures for COP22. The selection criteria highlighted the quality of the consortium's members, GL events' experience in supporting global political events such as the G7, G8, COP20, COP21, along with proven organisational and logistics expertise. Following Lima and Paris, GL events in this way demonstrates its capacity to support governments in organising major planetary events.

GL events was awarded the contract to provide temporary structures for the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP22) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Marrakesh encompassing an area of 66.7 acres (27 ha) including 29.6 acres (12 ha) of covered space. The Group has been operating in the the Middle East since 1997, where it has successfully developed its integrated business model. For this major global gathering, GL events formed a consortium comprised of: Capital Events (a Moroccan event industry agency), Agence Publics (communication), LENI (computer services) and RAHAL (catering services).

In charge of coordination and general organization, GL events areas of intervention cover in particular logistics, temporary structures furniture, interior fixtures (carpeting, partitions, awnings), floral decoration, electrical supply, air-conditioning, washroom facilities, IT installations and Internet access; The Group is also responsible for ensuring hospitality services and security.

A VERY LARGE-SCALE PROJECT

Over a period of 19 weeks, with a team of 500 employees, GL events prepared the meeting grounds covering 66.7 acres (27 ha), the installation of 1,291,669 sq. ft (120,000 m²) of temporary structures on 29.6 acres (12 ha) including tented space 2,296 ft. (700 m) long and 59 ft. (18 m) wide.

The 29.6 acre area is divided into two spaces: the Blue Zone administered by the United Nation and the Green Zone under the authority of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Blue Zone includes: 50 meeting rooms, two plenary meeting halls, a media space, three areas – the negotiation area, the delegate area and the side events area – a VIP area, a security area, two parking areas and two catering service areas.
The Green Zone includes an innovation area, a civil society area, a security area, a side events area, a parking facility and a catering area.
