Sustainable development: Lyon Convention Centre signs the ECCLAIRA agreement with INSA and the University of Savoie.

The ECCLAIRA (Evaluation of Climate Change and its Impact on the Rhône Alpes Region) project involves installing scientific and environmental monitoring instruments on the vegetated (green) roofs of the Convention Centre.

The ECCLAIRA project is coordinated by "Rhônealpénergie-Environnement" as part of the GICC (Climate Change Impact Management) programme set up by the French Ministry in charge of sustainable development.

ECCLAIRA aims to associate local authorities and research centres in the implementation of two practical experiments and produce a guide to assist local authorities in establishing a strategy for adapting to climate change in a given region. The experiments focus on water resource management and revegetation in urban areas.

The ECCLAIRA agreement will focus on studying the vegetated roof of the Pasteur Lounge of the Convention Centre (covering 281m²) and provide measurements over a 12 month period.
Using indicators such as rainfall rates and water-flow measurements, the study will provide data for sizing projects and thereby assist project owners in improving rainwater management.

The instruments to be installed are a rain-gauge on the roof and an electromagnetic flow-meter in the downpipes for rainwater coming from roof of the Convention Centre.
