An exhibition for 7 to 77 year-olds
For this exhibition, entitled "Contemporary Art Told to Children", the Italian artist Gianni Colosimo decided to go back and reinterpret certain emblematic works from the 20th Century, such as those by Marcel Duchamp, Yves Klein, Georg Baselitz, Gino De Dominicis, Marcel Broodthaers, Daniel Buren, Piero Manzoni, Jannis Kounellis, Joseph Beuys, Maurizio Cattelan, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Jan Fabre, Giulio Paolini, Arman, Sol LeWitt… among others.
The works were selected based on the fact they are immediately transposable into a child's universe. They tell stories. The artist brings them to life, or in certain cases updates them, by exploring their many facets. The perception is original and filled with humour.
The exhibition will actively involve the public, both young and old, by calling upon their imagination, particularly in the case of the revisited works of Sol LeWitt, Felix Gonzalez Torres or Tino Sehgal, which the public will even be able to interact with...
There will be pictures, sculptures and fun set-ups, revealing the works' unusual, off-the-wall and humorous nature. The works on display will also give the public an introduction and appreciation of Art History during the second half of the 20th Century and beginning of the 21st.
This exhibition has been created at the Centre Pompidou-Metz in 2011.
