Where cities and sport come together
On 14, 15 and 16 November in Lausanne, the annual City Events conference will bring together city representatives (with major sports projects), sports federations and event organisers. For the last three years, this has been the event where officials in charge of promoting the appeal of their areas (cities, regions, countries) come to meet representatives of international sports events. In 2011, more than 300 participants from 30 different countries met with over 30 international sports federations.
Lausanne, the Olympic capital which is the headquarters to 50 world sports organisations, is a real asset for the event: in two days, the contacts are made. This year, the event's varied programme of conferences, workshops and BtoB meetings will enable participants to enter the competition to host an event, and will provide them with every chance of success. With the support of leading international experts, the event addresses issues such as the preparation required before bidding, the production phase and the support campaign. The viewpoints of previous host cities and organisers will be cross-analysed to give participants an overall view, and, particularly, to help develop new ideas based on past experiences. This event is recognised as the leading sports event of its kind; today, this is where tomorrow's world of sport begins!
